Identification- Home language questions are completed as a part of the registration format the school site. When a language other than English is indicated by the parent(s)/guardian(s) on one of the following statement: language spoken at home; language first acquired by the student; or language most often spoken by the student, the parent and child are directed to the ESL Office for English language proficiency assessment.

Assessment of English language proficiency- A language proficiency classification level based on the results of the Language Assessment Scales (LAS) assessment is obtained and test results are explained to the parent.
