How can I help my child succeed in school?

There are a few steps you can take to help your child’s academic performance in school.

  • Arrange a homework area for your child with pens, pencils, dictionary and paper. Make sure there are no distractions. Let other children in the home know that during homework hour it is very important to be quiet.
  • Do quiet activities while your child studies.
  • Set a regular time for studying.
  • Take your child to the EBRP Public Library. A wealth of programs and information can be found there for all residents.
  • Limit your child’s TV time.
  • Talk to your child about his homework and school progress.
  • Do not criticize.
  • Help your child understand mistakes are a part of a learning process.
  • Encourage your child to participate in out of school activities such as sports, community service, clubs (i.e. International Club, Key Club, etc.), talent shows.

Visit your child’s school. Meet the teachers.  Go to back to school night and conferences. Get involved!
